The St. Paul Empire Beauty School presented a check to their local domestic violence shelter, Casa De Esperanza, for $812.83 during their 100 Days of Empire carnival theme celebration. This event was geared toward children in the community and a local day care center stopped by for a while to partake in the activities. The school set up a “Junk Food Walk” that consisted of various carnival foods—cotton candy, hot dogs, popcorn and soda. Each classroom and even the student salon had different activities. There was mannequin bowling where developer bottles where used as pins and an older mannequin was used as the ball. There was also a duck pond with candy prizes. The ring toss game was played by tossing rings around developer bottles and there was face painting for the children. There was also a “crazy hair booth” where hair was colored with washable hair color and styled in a funky, creative updo.
