Reading Students Network With Salons, Donate Funds and More!
June 18, 2010
The Reading Empire Beauty School celebrated their 100 Days of Empire with a
check presented to their local shelter, Berks Women in Crisis, in the amount of $1,024.93. The shelter was appreciative of the donation and all the hard work and effort put forth by the students to raise the money. The shelter also explained to the students how the
donation would help the women at the shelter.
There was also a career corner for the students to attend. There were more than 11 local salons that attended the event to speak to students and even gave some on-the-spot- interviews. Some of the salons included: Master Cuts, Regis, Kenneth Todd Salon, American Male and Cinergy Salon and Spa. Hollywood theme.
A red carpet was rolled out from the door to the salon so guests could walk in on a red carpet and leave feeling fabulous on the roped-off red carpet after their free salon service. Since the salon was so busy, the senior students competed in a competition. Any student who completed over $250 in services was entered in a drawing to win new professional shears.
Other activities for the day included a competition featuring the pre-salon students. The students were divided into teams as they created a total look to represent a Hollywood actress or theme. Some of the Hollywood themes picked where: Charlie’s Angels and Alice in Wonderland. Each member from the winning team was awarded a medal and hair product supplied by the teachers.
