New North Carolina School Hosts Ribbon Cutting & Open House Event!

August 2, 2010

Pineville NC Ribbon cutting  The newest member of the Empire Education Group family, the Pineville Empire Beauty School, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration with their 100 Days of Empire event.

Empire Chairman and CEO Franklin Schoeneman, along with the Pineville students and staff, presented a donation in the amount of $1,000 to Kelly Forney, Director of Residential Services at United Family Services Shelter for Battered Women. The school also celebrated giving back by donating all the proceeds from the event to the shelter. Kelly spoke to the students about how they are making a difference in the lives of so many women and children at the shelter and through supporting CUT IT OUT. There was also a presentation from Officer Maggie beauty school shelter donation Rodriguez from the Mecklenburg Police Department on domestic violence. She gave the students statistics, advice and signs of domestic violence. She also advised the students on the proper steps to take when faced with a possible victim of domestic violence.

Schoeneman and Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Cannon also addressed the students on the seriousness of domestic violence. The Mayor communicated to the students the opportunities they have as future professionals, noting the need for educated and trained cosmetologists and adding, “You are all attending Empire, this is your school but when you leave this school you have an opportunity to build your own empire.”

Shannon Lamm, Goldwell Platform Artist, North Carolina salon owner and Future Pro Expo judge, demonstrated a few unique hair cutting techniques to the students and guests. He also spoke to the students about continuing their education and wishing them well on their future careers.

In addition to offering tours of the school, complimentary beauty services such as manicures, haircuts and door prizes, the students also hosted their own fashion show for guests of the event. Local salon representatives and guests were impressed with the students’ fashions and equally surprised to learn that some of the hair and makeup creations were completed by freshman students.

The day’s events concluded with a ribbon cutting in front of the school with Schoeneman, Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Cannon, Kelly Forney, Pineville Executive Director Audra Grossnicke, students, and staff to celebrate the official grand opening of the newest Empire Beauty School.
