100 Days of Empire

June 25, 2010

once upon a time characters The Milwaukee Empire Beauty School celebrated “once upon a time” in addition to their 100 Days of Empire celebration. “Once upon a time” consisted of students picking their favorite children’s story and dressing up and decorating accordingly. Each classroom voted and picked a different children’s story and they were: 101 Dalmatians, Shrek, Candy Land, Cinderella, the Princess and the Frog. Decorations and costumes centered around each theme. In addition to the “once upon a time theme” there were four main events at the school.

After she won she said she was hungry for popcorn shrimp! There was also a Princess Style updo mannequin competition which required participants to design a formal hair style around a crown. This event was won by Umeka Higgins and she also won a gift card to Sally Beauty Supply.

There was a costume competition and students were dressed up as their favorite childhood character/fairytale, which was judged by everyone present in a run way showdown, and was won by Anastasia Gonzales and Vanessa Guerrero who both won Sally Beauty Supply gift cards.

The school also presented a check to their local domestic violence shelter, Community Advocates Horizon Women’s Shelter, in the amount of $1,710.76. The students felt great about the donation and all their hard work. The shelter representative spoke to the students about the seriousness of domestic violence and explained how the donation would be used at the shelter.

In addition to all the activities listed above, the school also celebrated with a DJ all day, offered free face painting for everyone under 16, free basic manicure and polish for kids 16 and under, a nail art demonstration from a local salon, a makeup demonstration from a local salon, and the school held a raffle for a gas grill.
