Madison School Kicks Off 100 Days Celebration With Carnival!
June 24, 2010
The Madison Empire Beauty School celebrated their 100 Days of Empire with a fantasy carnival--and this carnival had it all. The school had a student and staff sponsored bake sale all day and all money raised went in the school’s 2011 FPE fund. The school had many other activities throughout the day for the fantasy carnival, a hot dog eating contest, tarot card readings, and a pie throwing contest. One volunteer student and three volunteer teachers had whipped cream pies thrown at them. The school also had a popcorn machine and face painting for children.
There were also local salon owners in attendance who gave motivational speeches to the students about starting their own salons and how they achieved success in their
own careers. They let the students know that you have to be passionate about what you are doing whether it is retail, hair or makeup, you have to be passionate about what you do, how you do it and working with people.
The school presented a check to their local YWCA in the amount of $548.85. The
shelter was so appreciative of the donation and the students felt great about raising the money and are looking forward to this year’s national day of beauty.
Because the turnout was so great from this event, the school plans on having a smaller scale event similar to this once a month to keep the students excited about school and what they are doing. They also feel that this was a great way to get to know the community and they want the keep that relationship strong and thriving. The senior students also said they had so much fun that they would love to come back in a year and speak to the new freshman students about Empire and what they have been doing since they left.
