Lowell Beauty School Donates Funds During Open House Event!
July 15, 2010
The Lowell, MA, cosmetology school, despite the rain, had a tailgate and cookout to celebrate their open house and 100 Days of Empire event. There were plenty of hamburgers and hot dogs for all the students and guests and there were a variety of refreshments donated by the students to accompany the burgers and dogs.
Aside from the food, the 360 Degree Salon was busier than normal for all the students because of the open house—the students did a great job spreading the word and offering complimentary beauty services to guests. There was also a classroom set up with student demonstrations for prospective students to see. Perm set, highlights, braiding and updos were some of the beauty services guests and potential students could watch the students work on. There was also a student demonstrating to prospective students on the proper way to hold shears. He also explained the difference of a regular cut with a shears and a cut with texturizing shears to the guests.
The school also presented a check to their local domestic violence shelter, Alternative House, in the amount of $1,230.10. The shelter was very appreciative of the donation and of the student’s hard work to raise the money. The students were excited to hear that they will have the chance to raise money again for the shelter in October for the 2010 National Day Of Beauty.
