The Florence Empire Beauty School celebrated their 100 Days of Empire with a futuristic theme. There were decorations throughout the school and a mannequin competition to support the theme, as well as a fashion show.

The big event for the day was the fashion show. The fashion show was judged by Guest Speakers and Representative from the Women’s Crisis Center.   Prizes included straightening combs and products.

Fashion Show Winners:

  -Jane Snowden

  -Samantha Goeke

-Tiffany Hollenbeck was the Stylist for both Jane and Samantha

  -Chelsea Tobertge

  -Rebecca Meece was the Stylist

Mannequin Contest Winners:

-Anna McDonough/Janey Klare  (Tie)  – Most Futuristic

-Michelle Howard – Most Polished

-Kelly Perry – Most Original

There was also a mannequin completion that incorporated the futuristic theme. These mannequins were completed in advance of the day, and guests were able to vote and pick the winner of the competition. In addition to the fashion show and mannequin competition, there were performances by recent empire alumni.

Crystal Moore, a recent alumnus of the Florence beauty school, demonstrated hair cutting techniques to students; as Jacqui Sumner, also an alumnus, demonstrated acrylic nail art. A representative from  TIGI Bed Head, Bridgett Matteoli, demonstrated basic make-up applications and theatrical make-up to all students. The students were very interested and excited about all the demonstrations throughout the day.

Everyone in the school participated in the day’s events whether they were a part of the fashion show, competed in the competition or attended a speeches by the guest speakers.

The school also presented a check in the amount of $821.59 to their local domestic violence shelter, the Women's Crisis Center. The shelter representative was extremely grateful for the donation and explained to the students how the donation would be used at the shelter.

The students were very enthusiastic and ecstatic about the day’s events. Because of the success of the event the school has planned to move forward and have some type of small scale event every month.
