The Bangor, ME, Empire Education Group beauty school presented a donation to their elected local domestic violence shelter, Spruce Run, in the amount of $ 841.19 as part of their 100 Days of Empire open house event. The shelter representatives were appreciative of the funds and discussed how they money would be used for the residents. They also spoke to the students about the shelter's services and let the students know that they are looking forward to continuing a relationship with the school. The students of the school pledged to raise more funds during Empire's National Day of Beauty event in October.
Other highlights of the open house event were free beauty services to welcomed guests as the students dedicated their day with a Moulin Rouge theme. The school was decked out in red and black tulle, feathers and ribbons from top to bottom. There was also a paper windmill that the school created and a Moulin Rouge-theme fashion show. Students had to do their best to mimic of the movie and characters for their red carpet style fashion show through makeup, hair and costumes.
